You don’t need a cookbook or be a chef to prepare fast and yet nutritious noodles. One of the greatest myths about noodles is that it is always unhealthy. As a biochemist myself, I understand the origin of this thought, but I also know that noodles can be eaten in a healthy way if desired.
The internet, many times has shown us different variations of nutritious noodles bursting the above myth over and over again. Similar to carbohydrates, when eating noodles, it is vital to eat it with lots of protein, vegetables, and vitamins. That way, a balanced diet will be inevitable.
While I was in the University, I resolved to eating noodles countless times without minding the nutritional value. Even now, as a spinster, the thought of cooking noodles at my laziest days still excites me. It was one of the fastest meals to prepare, and it never disappointed me. I knew how unhealthy my actions were, but paid less attention to them until mom banned me from eating noodles for months. Only at that point did it dawn on me that I could convince her by preparing my noodles in a more nutritious way.
For the past few months, I have been preparing my noodles with lots of veggies, and protein. The best part is that I love to eat noodles with Garri (cassava flakes), the African cereal. Weird, I know!
Here is the problem…
We are most times too hungry and ready to eat that we forget that noodles can still be nutritious even though it’s classified as junk when prepared conventionally. Keep in mind that when you eat noodles barely, you are consuming lots of sodium which can lead to many diseases including metabolic problems, diabetes, obesity, and so on.
