It’s your girl again bringing another episode of WHAT’S COOKING RUTH to your screen. Today, I will be sharing my chocolate cookies recipe with my Carvers. I will talk about the preparation of THE CHOCOLATE CHIP-LESS COOKIES then head to the CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, which is most people’s favorite.

Well, before I go on, I want to say a big thank you to every Future Carver, you all are the reason why I am still doing this. In short, you are a big motivation. A big thumbs-up to you all!

As most of you might know, I have been in my home country for close to six months now and getting freshly made cookies in the country-side where I live is not that easy. And as a cookie lover, I can’t help my cravings. As a result, I have decided to give baking a try.

I am not that selfish, haha!

Not to mention that there are several variations of cookies around the world, but I will stick to these two unless I get requests from my Carvers (wink).

Once upon a time in a land called cookies, there lived a man named OVEN. Woah!

CHOCOLATE COOKIES (CHIP-LESS) RECIPE

  • Serving: 6 servings (to fill a belly like mine)
  • Prep time: 20-25 minutes
  • Cook time: 12-15 minutes
  • Total time: 30-40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of white sugar• ½ cup of butter
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of table salt
  • 1 ½ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ – 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda (gives the cookies a coarse texture) 1 teaspoon of cornstarch (makes it look so much better!)
  • 1 egg, of course!

Now the story continues… Famine was so much in the land that people were dying until one day when Oven realized that he had superpowers. His superpower was so intense that it could be used to burn a whole planet.

But instead of burning his friends and families, Oven decided to use the heat for something better. Yay! Way to go Oven! To bake cookies, of course! He had been seeing all the ingredients above in their community but never thought they could be useful until the day he discovered his powers.

Instructions:

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 340°F. Mix the softened butter and sugars for about 3 minutes using a hand mixer or an electric one. After that, add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, and let it mix evenly for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Mix all the powdery ingredients like flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a different bowl with a medium-low speed. For my experts, you can add these ingredients to the mix above, provided that an even overall mixture is reached.
  3. Combine the dry mix with the mixture in (1) until the ingredients are evenly mixed. It should take about 4 minutes.
  4. Time for shaping! Shape the dough into balls, place in a baking pan, and let it chill in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Bake in the oven for 7-12 minutes in the greased pan or until the middle portion is well-cooked. Then let the cookies sit outside in the baking pan for another 3 minutes. Then… you know what’s next. Yum Yum into my tummy!
