Do you feel lazy, overwhelmed, stressed?
Do you feel like you don’t have the motivation to do anything?
I was in the same boat not too long ago. I used to sit and make BIG plans with AWESOME ideas. But when it was time to implement them, I would not feel motivated!!
It was so bizarre and frustrating.
I would start on a new project and will be so excited in the beginning, with all the exciting plans, ideas. Then gradually, as time would pass, I would go slow on things.
The same ideas and projects would not spark the joy and excitement in me anymore, and things will be just too dull for me. At that time, I would feel as if I am going down the hill. (And you know how fast we can go down the slope! EXTREMELY FAST!)
That was how rapidly I used to get demotivated from anything and practically everything. The entire condition was baffling for me. I felt that I regularly required a push or a persuasive lift to cause me to proceed to get things done.
During one of my training courses, I spoke to my psychology teacher. I told her my situation and asked her if she could understand the question, “Why do I do this?” She told me one thing, which made sense to me. She said that chances are every time I think of doing a project, “I don’t LIKE to do it, and I don’t WANT to do it, or it’s not what my HEART wants.” According to her, I do the projects since I see individuals doing such and such, and if that persuaded me or entranced me, I would need to do that as well. So toward the start of any task, I would be excited, yet gradually and continuously, with time, I would lose my enthusiasm. Eventually, I would quit taking a shot at it, BECAUSE that was not what my HEART needed!
I was quite impressed by the answer, and then later that day, when I dug deep into her response, I somewhat could relate to it too.
But then the other problem with me was, HOW SHOULD I KNOW WHAT I LIKE AND WANT TO DO? I mean, with my career and home, I couldn’t just play this game of pick and choose.
In certain things, I have to be serious, and I need to keep going and be consistent.I read articles, saw videos on these topics, read other people’s views on this.
Finally, one day I concluded, and I found out my five ways to motivate MYSELF!
1. JUST START! NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL.
I needed to begin something of my own. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. In December 2019, I went to Chapters bookstore and saw a Homemade Lip balm Kit. I bought that and started making my homemade balms. It was difficult in the beginning. But I made an arrangement and just started it.
2. DON’T BE SCARED OF THE FAILURES. JUST TAKE THAT RISK.
I was terrified of putting resources into something I had no experience. A vast number of considerations and questions kept coming into my mind about how people would respond. What if it didn’t succeed, what if no one liked it, etc. But, I didn’t focus on any of my questions and simply continued onward. I realized that I needed to continue regardless, not because I got impacted by somebody via web-based networking media.
3. DON’T MEASURE YOUR WORTH!
Don’t measure your worth by the number of likes and followers on social media. Spend time with yourself, find your unique self, and see how precious you are, no matter what!
4. GET UP IN THE MORNING, MAKE YOUR BED, AND GET READY!
I learned that if I want to make an impact and want to change the world, then I must start from MYSELF! And the first thing that I need to do is to get up, get out of the bed, get ready, and MAKE THE BED! I can’t tell you what a huge effect that had on me. You see! It’s all about our brain; it’s how and what we tell our brain. If you are lying in your bed, thinking and making all these fantastic plans, staring into space, and daydreaming, etc., it will have no impact on anyone or anything. Once we get up and get ready and make our bed, our brain receives the message that now is the ideal opportunity for ACTION!
5.LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, DON’T SEEK APPROVALS ABOUT YOURSELF!
That was my defining moment. It was the primary thing that I realized and started doing. I stopped asking for approvals from others. I stopped checking my likes and followers on social media (that took me some time because it was hard!). I stopped asking what people thought of me, and if they were happy with my work or not. NOTHING. You know why I did that! Because I started believing in myself, and I started recognizing myself. Once I understood and believed in myself, then I remembered my intentions very well, and I knew what I was doing and why I was doing it. Things started getting more apparent to me. I was still the same, I AM still the same, but now I KNOW MYSELF! I know who I am, What my plans are, and what I want to do in my life. Not because I need to show the online networking and get supporters, but because I need to make a LEGACY! Likewise, if you need to accomplish something in your life, and you think you need some increase in inspiration, the ideal approach is to BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! Recognize yourself, and once you manufacture that relationship of confidence and trust between YOU and YOURSELF, you will see the magic occurring. So, get up, prepare, make your bed, and start the day! Remember, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE A LEGACY BEHIND!
My name is Maria, born and raised in Pakistan. I currently live in Winnipeg, Canada, with my best friend (my husband) and my seven years old son-shine, Zaid.
I am an ambivert. My happy days are when I get to spend time with friends and family, but when I come home, then I need ‘Me Time.’ I Love SWEETS and sweet people.
I feel there should be absolutely NO ROOM and SPACE for hate in our lives. WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR HATE. Life is going too fast and busy every day. We need to stop, pause, and deep breathe. Enjoy the surroundings. Enjoy the average and simplicity in nature, in a baby’s smile, a hug, and a nice little gesture.
